I ended-up getting introduced to Tony & Brian (Rock Splitters) via a peer blasting service whose calendar was too full to fit my job in – and wow what a fantastic referral they were. I’m GC’ing my first new construction build up in New Hampshire and true to the granite state we encountered extensive ledge across my chosen build site. All through the initial consultation Tony was patient and thorough in briefing and educating myself and my locally chosen excavator/operator about the preparation needed and process we’d follow leading up to the blast. When my local operator fell through Brian stepped in to offer up a correctly sized machine and assigned one of their veteran operators (Don) to the job. And once he had full understanding of my challenging job site (smooth, steeply-pitched ledge), tight budget and schedule, he then also assigned one of their pneumatic drills and a couple of their best drillers (Dean & Dave) to the job. In total they would drill 106 holes at an average depth of 7ft (with many holes needing a 10ft depth) to ensure my 35’ x 35’ blast area would achieve the correct grade. Meanwhile, lead blast specialist – Tony, had spent meaningful time specifying the right drilling diameter, depths and powder charge calculations to ensure not only a successful result but also to safeguard against damaging a small family cabin that had windows and a glass door that faced the blast zone. As we approached the blast week, we had the challenge of a tight weather window and a pneumatic drill that arrived half a day late. It was clear that additional resources would be needed to finalize the site preparation. On the final day, Brian mobilized 7 men onto my job (2 operators, 2 drillers, 2 delivering explosives and a blast specialist) to ensure everything got done right and stayed on our original timeline. Like many endeavors, blasting is a lot about planning and preparation, and when it has been done right it all goes off extremely well. By the time Tony let me holler “Fire In The Hole”, I was fully ready to see the results this team had prepared and wow did we get the bang we wanted. Don would spend the next 2.5 days excavating out over 8,500 cubic feet of rock – ensuring everything was at grade for my eventual walk-in basement. A huge thanks to Brian, Tony, Don, Dean and team on helping me get the result I asked for. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Rock Splitters Inc. again –– highly recommend them for your next job.

I had a great experience with Rocksplitters. They broke up a large rock in my backyard using hydraulic equipment and carefully placed all the broken pieces exactly where I requested. The team was professional, hardworking, and even continued working through the rain to get the job done. Their pricing was very reasonable, and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations. Brian is an amazing person! I called him to get a quote to have some boulders split on my property and he came first thing in the morning the next day! His quote was fair and I decided to move forward with the project. He made several suggestions as to how we can effectively get the job done. He even pointed me in the direction of a local company that offers rentals for excavating equipment and offered to rent the equipment and operate it at no additional cost! Brian is so confident in his work he said, “you don’t have to pay me until you’re happy with the job” wow! Stand up guy who stands behind his word and his business.
